Inspirational Ayahs

"And never give up hope of Allah's soothing Mercy: Truly no one despairs of Allah's soothing Mercy except those who have no faith." [12:87]

"Therefore remember Me, I will remember you, And be thankful to Me, and do not be ungrateful to Me." [2:152]

"And if you would count the graces of Allah, never could you be able to count them." [14:34]
Say: "O 'Ibadi (My slaves) who have transgressed against themselves (by committing evil deeds and sins)! Despair not of the Mercy of Allah, verily Allah forgives all sins. Truly, He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
[39:53]

"Indeed, I have rewarded them this Day for their patience; they are indeed the ones who are successful."
[23:111]
‘Whosoever holds fast to God, he has been guided onto the Straight Path.’
[3: 101]
‘The true servants of the Most Merciful are those who behave gently and with humility on earth, and whenever the foolish quarrel with them, they reply with [words of] peace.’
[25: 63]
And those who are patient, seeking the countenance of their Lord, and establish prayer and spend from what We have provided for them secretly and publicly and prevent evil with good – those will have the good consequence of [this] home –

Gardens of perpetual residence; they will enter them with whoever were righteous among their fathers, their spouses and their descendants. And the angels will enter upon them from every gate, [saying],

"Peace be upon you for what you patiently endured. And excellent is the final home." [13:22-24]

Alhamdulillah! :)

Gratitude

“Gratitude is built upon five pillars: Submissiveness to Allah from the one expressing gratitude; loving Him for it; acknowledging His favour; praising Him for it; and not utilizing it in a way that displeases Him” ~ Ibn al-Qayyim

I am not impressed....

Amid the football fever and the excitement, there  is me. Unimpressed and down in the mouth. :(
I am not a spoilsport but I just can not see the point. The world has so many problems and I find that this football hysteria is promoting ethnicism and taking people's minds off the real issues. Do I think it is a diversion? Of course I do. Is being euphoric about a team of overpaid, overindulged, overgrown, spoilt adults ( who often act like kids) and their designer womenfolk going to earn me any goals with the One Who really matters???

Of course not. So forgive me if I can not cheer.:( But I feel already better for offloading. :) Alhamdulillah!!!

Beauty and Delight!

"Is not He (better than your gods) Who created the heavens and the earth, and sends down for you water (rain) from the sky, whereby We cause to grow wonderful gardens full of beauty and delight? It is not in your ability to cause the growth of their trees. Is there any ilah (god) with Allah? Nay, but they are a people who ascribe equals (to Him)!"
سورة النمل  , An-Naml, Chapter #27, Verse #60)

I would like to share this presentation with you. Please take a minute to watch it and ponder in the beauty that surrounds us and lets thank the Creator of this beauty. Subhanallah!

The three dates

Check out this SlideShare Presentation:

"And when I am ill, it is He who cures me” (Holy Qur;an, 26:80)

I have not been feeling very well this weekend. Nothing serious but hmmmmmmmm very uncomfortable. I have been in considerable pain since Friday and everything has been too much of an effort.
I tried to take some antibiotics but they made me feel a 1000 times worst and an upset nauseous stomach developed :(
As the pain was relentless I still  made myself get up and carry on as normal. If you have a family to look after even if the situation is bleak, it is rare to have the option and luxury to stay in bed and hide from the world.
When I feel like that, I never ask, " Why", " Why me", " If only" and so on.
Before Islam, I am afraid I would be very resentful of calamities and illnesses and I would be downright annoyed and impatient.
Islam has changed my views in all matters and matters of illness.
Allah might allow us to become ill so:
1) We can remember Him and ask Him to make us better.
and when I am ill, it is He who cures me” (Holy Qur'an, 26:80)
"Your Lord says: "Call on Me and I will answer your call" (Quran 40:60).
2) Maybe Allah,  wants to raise our status in the Hereafter by expiating some of our sins
3) As a warning that we might be doing something wrong and we need to look at ourselves and actions again and take heed.
4) To let us know that we need to look at the underlying causes of the illness and maybe take action.
5) To appreciate the times when we were in good health and thank Allah.
According to Imam Ghazali, illness increases faith and brings man closer to God. Knowing this nature, we are told by the Quran -
"O you who believe, seek help with patience and prayers, as God is with those who patiently persevere" (Quran 2:153).
Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "The example of a believer is that of a fresh tender plant; from whatever direction the wind comes, it bends it, but when the wind becomes quiet, it becomes straight again. Similarly, a believer is afflicted with calamities (but he remains patient till Allah removes his difficulties.) And an impious wicked person is like a pine tree which keeps hard and straight till Allah cuts (breaks) it down when He wishes."  (Book #70, Hadith #547)
If you are in best of health "Thank Allah" and if you are feeling poorly " Thank Allah for the times you was well and Ask Him to restore you to your former health ( Give you Shiffa).
Do you know of any other reasons why Allah, might allow various calamities to befall us?

When envy takes hold...

Free Photo. Com Photographer Ian Britton
Asalamu Alaykum

There is a rampant phenomenon in our days that destroys lives.
It damages relationships and causes damage to the person  who has the problem to start with.
What is this nemesis? Over competitiveness and envy .This need to be the best and have the best.
It can start as a little weed growing and before you know it it overtakes the garden of our hearts killing all the beauty and destroying the fragrant  flowers of love, compatibility, tolerance, support, appreciation, to name but a few.
It even rears its ugly head within the folds of marriages, sibling relationships, friendships.
It usually stems from our own depths of insecurities firmly rooted in out hearts since times unknown. It feels a little like sibling rivalry, competing for this extra love ( from  parents) and needing to prove that we deserve the love constantly. It is a self destructing feeling as well as a relationship "killer" We can not stand to see anybody better than us..
The person is under constant stress, striving for approval , acceptance and never feeling at peace and comfortable in their own situation.I often see this in work related situations when people often compete for the the management's approval and stopping at nothing to gain this approval and the "rewards" it brings.
I usually step back form this kind of situation, keep calm and let it wash over me.It has taken me years of living and of course Islam to get to this stage. Alhamdulillah.
As Muslims we know what  is important and what is not worth to loose sleep over.
The only time we should worry is:
Narrated Ibn Masud: I heard the Prophet saying, "There is no envy except in two: a person whom Allah has given wealth and he spends it in the right way, and a person whom Allah has given wisdom (i.e. religious knowledge) and he gives his decisions accordingly and teaches it to the others."  (Book #24, Hadith #490).

If we have ever experienced this negative feelings we must work on ourselves to distance them from our hearts, and ask Allah's help to make it easy for us.

Jazakallah for reading
