The Muslimah attends Eid Prayers
The Muslimah attends Eid Prayers-Excerpt from the Book “The Ideal Muslimah”
Islam has honoured woman and made her equal with man as regards obligatory acts of worship.
Women are also encouraged to attend public gatherings on Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, so that they may take part in these blessed occasions.
This is demonstrated in a number of Hadith reported by
Bukhari and Muslim, in which we see that the Prophet (PBUH) commanded that all the women should come out on these occasions, including adolescent and prepubescent girls, those who usually remained in seclusion, and virgins; he even commanded that menstruating women should come out, to take part in the joyous occasion, but they were to keep away from the prayer-place itself. His concern that all women should attend the prayer on the two Eids was so great that he ordered the one who had more than one jilbab (outer garment) to give one to her sister who had none. In this way he encouraged both the attendance of all women at Eid prayers and mutual support and help to do good and righteous deeds.

“We (women) used to be commanded to go out on the two Eids, including those who usually
stayed in seclusion, and virgins. The menstruating women went out too, and stayed behind
the people, joining in the takbirat.”

“The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) commanded us to take them out on Eid al-Fitr and Eid alAdha, the adolescent and prepubescent girls, the menstruating women, and those who
usually remained in seclusion, so that they could share in the festive occasions of the
Muslims, but the menstruating women were not to pray. I said, `O Messenger of Allah
(PBUH), one of us does not have a jilbab.’ He said, `Let her sister dress her in one of her
own jilbabs.’”
36
Bukhari reports: “Muhammad ibn Sallam told us that `Abd al-Wahhab reported from Ayyub from Hafsah bint Sirin, who said: `We used to prevent our prepubescent girls from going out on the two Eids’”.A woman came and stayed at the castle of Banu Khalaf, and reported something from her sister. Her sister’s husband had taken part in twelve military campaigns with the Prophet (PBUH), and her sister herself had accompanied him on six of them. She said: “We used to take care of the sick and wounded.” Her sister asked the Prophet (PBUH): “Is there anything wrong if one of us does not have a jilbab and never goes out for that reason?” He said: “Let her friend give her one of her jilbabs, so that she can come out and join the righteous gatherings of the Muslims.”‘

BANGALAH MAGREB DAJJAJ…… MOROCCAN CHICKEN WITH A BENGALI TWIST - Welcome Note
As salaam alaikumwarahmtulaahiwabarakatu brothers and sistars!!!
On a lighter note a succulent gorgeous recipe for tasty chicken that can be eaten with rice , couscous or simply salad. A version of this recipe is in my forth coming book inshallah, Heavenly Bites, published by Kube Publishers. - Since I wrote my version of this traditional Moroccan recipe,
I have been on trips to the back streets of East London, where my second Muslim family live, the Bengalis…
I love you!!!!
There I have found these visually engaging crinkly green lime things and was told by the man behind me in the queue that you can eat the skins. I have since found out they are called shatkora.
The Prophet Muhammed, salahalaihiwasalem, said about citrus, ” The believer who recites the Quran is likened to the utrujj; its taste is good, its scent is good” SAHIH BUKHARI AT’IMA 30
These wild oranges or shatkora provide the new subtle twist in this magrebi recipe.
This is the latest version of this recipe to listen up! - Step by Step
Step 1
Clean your chicken, soak in a big bowl or sink with water, salt, and lemon juice, meanwhile make the marinade.
(Sort of...) - Step2
1 table spoons of Moroccan marinade( exact recipe in book) which consists of chopped fresh coriander, parsley. garlic , salt and olive oil. - Step2
Add 1 teaspoon of each ginger powder, tumeric and cumin, I hope Gordon is paying attention. - Step 3
Grated zest of shatkora and unwaxed lemon - Step4
Mix it all together - Step 5
Rinse and drain water off chicken. Rub marinade all over chicken, inside and out. If you are squeamish, now is the time to grow up and stop being so silly! - Step 6
Cut 1/2 of the lemon in slices and 1 slice of shatkora, juice the remaining lemon and lime and pour over chicken, wash and chop some small green chillies and sprinkle over chicken - Step 7
Then add a good teaspoon of coarse ground black pepper - Step 8
Add lemon and lime slices, leave to marinate for a few hours ideally in a cool place less then 10 degree C ,before cooking sprinkle black pepper over and a drizzle with a good green olive oil, - I love Moroccan but hey, I’m bias, they are my First Muslim family MASHALLAH!
Roast for about 1 1/2 hours , in the last 1/2 hour add some olives ……….Latifa, Mr Curry will like this new version so try it honey!!!!
Sort off.... - Finished Dish

Women companions of Prophet: Asmaa bint Yazeed, the women’s representative
By ADIL SALAHI
Source: Arab News
She came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) when he was sitting with a group of his men companions. She said: “Messenger of God, I am sent by a group of Muslim women and we all share the same view and have the same concern. God has sent you to both men and women. We believe in you and follow you. Yet we, women, have to stay at home. We are the object of men’s desire and we bear their children. Nevertheless, men have privileges, such as the obligatory Friday prayer, attending funerals and going on jihad campaigns. When they leave for jihad, we look after their property and we rear their children. Messenger of God, do we have a share of reward for doing so?”
The Prophet turned to the men attending him and said: “Have you ever heard a more eloquent woman putting a case concerning her faith?” They said: “We never thought that a woman can be so expressive.” The Prophet said to her: “Asmaa, go and tell women that when any of you is a goodly wife, giving her husband a pleasant life and cutting out friction, she earns a reward equal to all that you have mentioned of men’s reward.” She went away glorifying God and praising Him. The woman was Asmaa bint Yazeed ibn Al-Sakan, a distinguished figure among the women of the Ansar. She belonged to the clan of Abd Al-Ashhal of the Aws, whose chief was Saad ibn Mu’adh. She and Kabshah bint Rafi, Saad’s own mother, were the first women of the Ansar to pledge their loyalty to the Prophet after he arrived in Madinah.
The story we related about her question to the Prophet tells us that she was outspoken and highly expressive, which suggests that she was well educated. Indeed, she was a most distinguished reporter of the Prophet’s Hadiths, reporting no less than 81 Hadiths. This puts her among the top Ansari women in reporting Hadith, if not the top one. In one report she speaks of the revelation of Surah 5 of the Qur’an, Al-Ma’idah or the Repast. She reports: “I was holding the rein of Al-Adbaa, the Prophet’s she-camel, when the Surah Al-Ma’idah was revealed to him in full. It was so heavy, that it almost broke the limbs of the she-camel.” This is a reference to the fact that the revelation was a hard experience for the Prophet, as it involved communication with the archangel Gabriel.
Asmaa belonged to a family of brave fighters. In the Battle of Uhud, when the Muslim army was in disarray, her brother, Imarah ibn Yazeed, was one of the few who remained steadfast and defended the Prophet until he was killed. Her father and uncle were also killed in the same battle. Their bravery made her eager to follow their suit. Therefore, she went out with the Muslim army on several occasions during the Prophet’s lifetime. She was also with the Prophet and his companions when they aimed to visit Makkah, but Quraysh, the Arab tribe living in Makkah and opposed to Islam, stopped them. At one stage, the Prophet asked his companions to pledge to fight to the finish if the need arose. Asmaa was among the Muslims who gave the Prophet that pledge. Three years after the Prophet had passed away, Asmaa joined the Muslim army heading to Syria to fight the Byzantine army. She took part in the fighting, using the pole of her tent to defend herself and the women with her. She was able to kill nine of the enemy soldiers. After the battle and when Syria came under Muslim rule, Asmaa stayed in Syria, teaching women about Islam. She lived until an advanced age. According to good reports, she died in Damascus in year 69, which means that she was around 90 or even older when she died. She is buried in Bab Al-Sagheer graveyard in Damascus.

FAST FAST FOOD- ISLAMIC FOODS- BEETROOT SALAD
RAMADHAN RECIPES RECYCLE VIBE
by Karimah bint Dawoud, Muslim chaplain and Well Being Writer.
karimahscuisina@live.co.uk
I was tidying out the fridge today and notice I had few things I should use up instead of throwing away, these included some old celery, you can eat but scrape off any brown bits as they are toxin. There was also some old sugar snaps and a bulb of chicory…… and one beetroot already cooked. now what goes well with chicory and beetroot???
Avocado!!!Full of fibre , good for eye health, heart health, all sorts of cancer and a vitamin E power house with great natural oils.
So I bought some avocado and fresh beetroot, some reduced salad and reduced herbs;mint chive and coriander.
Hmmmm! I wonder what they herbs will be like together?
So lets make a salad, here’s how………………….
WASH EVERYTHING
CLEAN ANY BROWN BITS OFF CELERY AND CHOP SMALL
FOODS OF THE NOBEL QURAN AND SUNNAH
CELERY- (karafs)
there is a haddith, though not authentic but still mentioned by Ibn Qayyim Al Jawziyyah in Medicine of the Prophet, the haddith says that the Messenger of Allah, salah al alahi wa salem said” whoever eats karafs and sleeps upon it, sleeps with good breathe and is safe from the pain of molars and toothache”.
however the truth is that the garden variety of celery does sweetness the breathe and if the stems are wound around the neck it is beneficial for toothache…hmmmm interesting.
CHOP SUGAR SNAPS SMALL AND ADD TO CELERY
CHOP CHICORY AND GRATE RAW BEETROOT AND ADD TO CELERY AND SUGAR SNAPS.BEETROOT IS KNOWN AS A SUPER ROOT, ITS GREAT FOR THE HEART AND TONING THE BLOOD, ITS MENTIONED IN THE MEDICINE OF THE PROPHET(SALAH LA ALAIHI WA SALAM)
FINELY CHOPPED WASHED MINT,CHIVES AND CORRIANDER AND ADD
BEFORE YOU BEGIN TO CUT THE AVOCADO , JUICE A LEMON OTHERWISE THE AVOCADO WILL GO BROWN WHILE YOU ARE JUICING THE LEMON
FOODS OF THE NOBLE QURAN ADN SUNNAH-LEMON – UTTRUJJ (citron)
Lemon is mentioned in the Medicine of the Prophet , salah la alaihi wa salem, in relation to sugar cane-QASAB AL SUKKAR. It states that the juice of lemon, orange or plum pomegranate repels the harmful effects of the sugar cane.
Lemon is also part of the citrus family. All citrus fruits; lemon, orange, limes, grapefruits, tangerines, clematines etc consists of four part; peel, pulp, flesh and seeds. Each one of these pieces has its own temperament.
The peel keeps moths away from clothes and its scents the air. It sweetens breathe in the mouth and when added to food aids digestion. Its flesh soften the stomach and aids those of a bilious temperament.
The pulp awakens the appetite for food so for those of us trying to put weight on, this could be a solution inshallah.
The Prophet salah alaihi wa salem said ” The believer who recites the Quran is likened to the utrujj; its taste is good, its scent is good” SAHIH BUKHARI AT’IMA 30
ADD THE AVOCADO THEN TEH LEMON JUICE AND TOSS, STORE IN THE FRIDGE TO CHILL,
SERVE WITH TOASTED SESAME SEEDS, THIS SALAD HAS SO MANY ISLAMIC FOODS IN SO ITS REALLY GOOD FOR YOU ON SO MANY LEVELS…..AND I NEARLY THREW IT AWAY!
